Summer is coming, book recommendations?

For a little mind candy read Jitterbug Perfume by Tom Robbins.

***Good call!!! *** I read that many summers ago. I tried reading “Fierce Invalids Home from Hot Climates” recently, but couldn’t get far. Of course, it WAS winter.

"For something more outdoor-oriented, try his “A Walk in the Woods” about his hike up the Appalachain Trail. "

  • the funniest book I’ve ever read.

I’ll second the thumbs up on “Running with the Buffaoles”.

I recently finished the Flying Scotsman by Graeme Obree. The man (Obree) is/was amazing. It’s hard to get here in the U.S., but worth the read.

Joe Simpson’s “Into the Void.” (climbing)

Shouldn’t that be Touching the Void?

I’ve got a whole slew of world affairs books I’m going through right now and a fun novel for children of the 80s called How Soon is Never, by Marc Spitz, but I’m also looking forward to receiving the latest book by Jon Krakauer, Under the Banner of Heaven: A Story of Violent Faith**. **It should be a pretty good summer of reading before grad school starts and all I will have time to read about is linguistics.

Ja, you’re right…Touching The Void it is. He had a couple after that too, but I only plowed through The Beckoning Silence so far…also excellent.
