Suggestion for wide cycling shoes

I have wide feet and they go numb… I have the carnac shoes now and I think they are not wide enough… Does anyone have suggestions for me to look at other brands?

I was going to suggest Carnac but I will not now! Louis Garneau look fairly wide but I can tell you from experience to forget Sidi, Shimano and Time. I seem to recall that Specialized are not very narrow and might be worth looking at the Tri Vent if you can find it!

Those seem very nice but man, are they expensive!!!

Exactly my thoughts Julian, I switched away from Carnac because they are WIDE… But custom prices are insane…

Absolutely, otherwise we would be all riding in LUST, not just with LUST!

I have posted before - just recently I might add that the new Carnac shoes tend to run NARROW and not wide in the forefoot. The new Shimano TS-01 seems to fit people with wide feet very well (myself included). Nice carbon sole and very lightweight as well. I would also check out Specialized but would stay away from Sidi shoes as well (more narrow on average).

Rocket 7’s are worth every stinking penny. These shoes are bar none the best investment I have ever made. Mine cost about $600 dollars after a custom footbed was made and customizing the colors.

These shoes are beautiful and amazing. If you had the money, you would be wise to at least call them and get a bit of information about what they are all about. At least get all the info before discarding them as expensive.

Its worth the call!! Just think, a shoe built around your foot. Like a glove. Oh yeah, the whole sole of the shoe is carbon fiber. And the shoe weighs half the amount of any other shoe out on the market.

How does one get on about the fitting from abroad? Any idea?

Rocket 7 would send you a casting mold for you to set your foot in. I have posted the ordering process from there website. These guys are super cool and will lend a helping hand however needed…I received one of the first 2005 pair of Rocket 7 tri shoes they made.

ORDERING PROCESS: Upon placing your online order, a casting kit (for custom orders) will be delivered to you via UPS (International orders via US Postal Express). For custom orders, you will be billed a $100 non-refundable deposit. For help selecting a Standard-Fit size, you may trace your feet (heel against door) with a precise length measurement and fax to 253-830-0162. (Don't forget to write the exact length on the paper since the fax will distort the true measurement.) Custom and Superstock delivery is 4-6 weeks. Standard-Fit delivery is typically within 24hrs (provided your size is in stock).

Thank you, that is good to know.

I have the carbon road pro specialized and they are wide. very nice shoe and I can move my toes aahhhhhh.

Dirt

Yep, pretty steep!

It’s not for everybody, but the best shoe on the market right now. You’ll be seeing these pop up all over the place. Certainly doesn’t hurt when Leito, Macca and MJ where em either! They knocked everybody out at Interbike.

If you go the custom route, they will stitch your name into the side and whatever other monkey business you’ld like.

Marisol, Lake has cycling shoes in wide as does nashbar (possibly the same shoe). These are actual wides not “it runs wide” I have a set of the shimano T1 carbon that are too narrow and am trying to find something that fits better also. Although I hate the thought of giving up a pair of $200 shoes with only 700 miles on them makes me want to cry.

Shimano R151 Wides, fit my EE feet great!

I saw a demo pair of Diadora Tri shoes at a race last fall, they looked a little wider than the usual suspects.

Two of the 3 pair of Carnacs I own fit my 2E’s, the Quartz fits the best.

Sidi makes shoes in Mega width they claim fits up to EE width:

Marisol,

I have fairly wide feet, and though I will race in the Sidi TR “whatever its called”, i bought a pair of Specialized on ebay and I love them. They are the Pro version, not the S works, and they rock for long rides. For short stuff, I will still use the Sidi’s…have not decided yet on what I will wear for IMAZ. Oh, for about 7 years I used some old Diadora’s, and they would hurt on longer stuff too.

This looked good but I would prefer tri shoes with one wider strap. What are the “quartz”?
