SUCCESS! - Brushed Titanium Touch-Up? Herbert?

I have a Litespeed Saber that is brushed titanium. I have found some really good “wet-wipe” style cleaning wipes that make it look really good after I wash it (water spots, etc).

BUT, there are a couple spots on the seat tube that have been “rubbed” by my Yakima rack and now look polished. Question is…

What is the best thing to use to buff the polished parts out so it matches the original brushed finish. Will a green scrub pad be enough or do I need some real fine steelwool?

Ideas?

Michael

I would say take a brown paper bag and rub on it with some light pressure. The brown bag is about equivalent to 1000 grit sandpaper it may dull that polished area.

Am I missing the connection to the dating thread or something…or is this a bishop polishing reference?

Edit: OH…I was just a bit slow. Sig file…Now, THAT is funny.

and she posted her pic earlier on…you should really go for it once you become a Ti expert

Mark,
The way we do it here is something you can do at home, but your technique might not be as good as of those who do it every day here.
But this is how you should do it:
Get Scotch Bright pad strips (grey ones) maybe 8 inches long and 1 inch wide and than brush in a “sawing” motion on the same spot, then lift and do the same thing right next to the spot where you just brushed and repeat and repeat. Don’t diagonally continue, if that makes sense.
Hope this finds you well.

Scotch Brite green pads cut into 2" wide strips. use them like your’e trying to buff a shoe.

SWEET…worked like a charm!

Used a strip of green Scotch-Brite first and then followed up with a strip of the blue “No-Scratch” Scotch-Brite. In the store the “No-Scratch” blue pads felt more coarse but guess they aren’t.

Finished off with a quick wipe-down with my “Stainless Steel Magic Wipes” in the silver wet-wipe container and it looks better than new. (No offense Herbert)
