Anyone else. How many sub 9:10’s have there been ? Some of you trivia guys must have all the splits somewhere !
Duh, I can’t believe I forgot Katinka and Thea. You see, the Euro achievements get little coverage on this side of the Atlantic, so they don’t get beaten into one’s head like the North American achievements. When I compete for Canada at the World Military Games in 1995, on the start line were the likes of Olivier Marceau, Hellriegel, Norman Stadler and Dmitri Gaag. Our coach thought that the main competition were US Servicemen Donald Fink and Doug Marocco, until I told him that Hellriegel won Lanzarote, Stadler was the 94 duathlon World Champ and Marceau was the then leader of the ETU Tri series. Coach told me I was full of shit until the race ended and Hellriegel won. This was around 6 weeks before he put the boots to the Mark Allen motorcade at Hawaii 95. All this to say, there is no coverage of Euro triathlons on this side, even major events like Nice, Almere, Sater and Frederica (sp ?).
Anyway, how many women have gone sub 9:10. It is likely a pretty exclusive club too…
