Anyone able to get any work done on a computer during endurance zone workouts on a bike trainer?
Hmmm, does playing video games count?
Aero position or non aero position?
I have read a lot of good books! And now that I have to sit up most of the time due to recent shoulder surgery - a lot of good TV watching!
I have thumbed up and down many a song on my pandora stations. My workout stations are killer.
Seriously though, if it involves typing on a keyboard, it can get painful because of the pressure it places on your wrists.
Non
.
Depends on how many watts I am pushing. But when I am at the high end no. Low end yes.
… unless you are trying to burn some extra calories - pedalling at low enough power to allow work doesnt really give much effect. SO why not train hard and then do work?

If you are in an aero position, would you get the work done faster?

This reminds me of people I see doing power walking in their full workout gear while reading a book…why not work when you are at work and workout when you workout?
Really, how much work would you really get done while biking?
Besides, wouldn’t you sweat all over the keyboard?
Yes and even more so when I am wearing a aero helmet.

I could try this but the other people in my office might look at me like I’m strange or something. Wait … that may happen already.
Netflix and Pandora, yes. Actual work?, no.
Lol I did a spin class the other day and they talked about a 1hr 15m endurance spin class they were having today. I thought what a great reason to break out the aero helmet for the class. But alas my plan today called for a 12 mile run instead. Strangely enough it was longer then the “endurance” spin class. But not by much though.

if I had a head unit that would BEEP when I drop below zone2 I think I could make use of this concept

I’m just trying to squeeze in more Hours training. At my current workload, I will have to sleep less if I can’t efficiently use time. I know this isn’t realistic. My other option is a robot double at work.
That would be really helpful. I’d be happy to test it when your prototype is done.
Have tried it but it’s hard to concentrate intellectually when you’re in pain; and if you’re not in pain, maybe the workout is of questionable benefit, unless it’s “active recovery.”

I can surf the web or email while on the trainer. But really only during warm up. I do not see much value to “long endurance” training indoors. I guess if I had a hard enough head (and crotch) I’d spend hours on the trainer. Instead I do my specific stuff and then am working too hard to do anything else.
