Stupid newbie questions

So, I’m doing my first 70.3 in a couple of weeks, (Kansas), and a couple of things I’m not sure about:

  1. Water bottles. If I start w/2 of my own, and exchange on the ride, what happens to my 2 originals? on my last Olympic+ ride, I just ditched them, and came back later. I’m assuming the volunteers at the aid stations could give a rip about my Bontrager water bottles. But I like them.
  2. Tires/Spare wheels. I’ve never known if there was a way to have a spare(s) socked away, or if you’re completely on your own, w/whatever tubes, co2 etc. are in your saddle bag.
  3. Can I drop my transition gear w/the bike drop the day before? I realize this question is probably specific to that race, just thought someone reading this was familiar w/logistics at Kansas 70.3.
Thanks for indulging me. I’m not a complete idiot, I just play one on race day.

  4. I usually just fill my bottles with the handups or use ones I don’t have a problem losing.

  5. Bring your own stuff. I usually tape a tube, co2 and a tire lever to my seatpost.

  6. Bring your transition bag to the t area on the morning of the race.

  1. Water bottles - gone. In a perfect world you end up with 2 replacements which you love and cherish just as much as the originals.

  2. no ‘neutral wheels’ like in bike races. You’re on your own.

  3. Transition gets set up in the morning.
