I haven’t done a tri in two years due to money and, susequently, motivation. I have started running again and today got the urge to bike, so I get my road bike ready to ride (I haven’t ridden it in two years, been on my tri bike), get myself ready and…a damn storm pops up! I was ready to go anyway since rain is no big deal…then some big cracks of lightning! Damn!
Don’t worry - the rubber in your tires will insulate you from any lightning that happens to strike you or your bike

Karma…
Hey, don’t knock the weather. When I wanted to upgrade from aluminum to carbon, one of the best excuses I was able to come up with was better protection in case of unexpected lightning. That, and the fact that I had a spare set of pedals lying around, without a bike to put them on.
I’m pretty certain that carbon fiber conducts electricity. What you really need is a good metal shell around you. Maybe a recumbent bike wrapped with aluminum foil would help.

See? If I hadn’t been on my bike when I read that, I’d be dead!!
Later!
