I’ve been swimming with finish agility paddles the last few years, but would like to add a small use of strength paddles into my sessions. I’m a 5’11" 30 year old male and swim about 1:20/100m pace with wetsuit for HIM distance. Don’t have the luxury of fitting, but want a paddle size that is: slightly large than my hand, allows full stroke length, and natural cadence/turnover.
Choosing between Strokemaker size#1 Azure blue or size#2 Yellow? Suggestions?
Go for the Azure blue/green ones. I’m 5’11 and those are the ones I use. Gerry Rodrigues recommends those ones. I’m able to keep my high cadence with those ones.

I have had both yellow (size 2) and the Azure blue (size 1) for the past 4 years or so. Almost all the time I swim with size 1, and especially if I am swimming with other people. The one time I will use Yellow is if I am swimming by myself super easy. I see people with crazy paddle sizes, there is more risk and almost no reward for the typical triathlete.
I will say that I find myself using the Finis Agility paddles more and more in the largest size. I have smallish hands but I like the larger size nonetheless. I find them to be nearly identical in size to the Azure Blue.
Likely size 1. Place your hand on Strokemaker paddle, the paddle should not be much larger than your hand. That is Strokemaker’s recommendation and been a golden rule on our swim team. It works. There is no benefit having a bigger paddle, just more shoulder injury risk.
