Anyone got any good tips for stripping the stickers of an old pair of Specialised tri-spokes? Tried picking them off with little success and much frustration.
You might try these goop removers: either “Goof-Off” or “Oops” which are readily available at most big box hardware stores. We own a sign shop and use this stuff all the time to remove old adhesive-backed material. Try using a credit card as a scraper to get most of the residue off and then the solvent.
Solvent’s are ok on the carbon?
Nail polish remover an option? (not mine you understand).
GBJ,
I can’t guarantee these goop removers won’t damage the carbon but they don’t lift cured latex paint over plywood. I personally would grab this stuff first (before using nail polish remover!) if I had a similar need. I’m guessing the resins used making those wheels harden up pretty good so these mild removers won’t melt your wheels.
What a disappointing thread… Jeez
I’d try heat - start with a hair dryer and if that doesn’t give you any joy, up the ante to a heat gun. Just be sure to keep the gun moving at all times, and don’t get too close to the wheel.
I was thinking the 10rd that come with any M16 will do.
No joke: Try peanut butter. The oils in it help dissolve the adhesive on many stickers (like on jars, etc.). Should not affect the carbon at all, but may attract the dogs on those rural rides!

I dealt with the same frustration and the answer is…You have to be patient and just peel the little pieces. I know it sucks but just sit down to a tape of the 03 tour and start tearing, worked for me.
