Strawberry Fields Tri

This past Sunday was the Strawberry Fields Tri in Oxnard, California. It was the first annual and I just want to give kudos to the race director and all the volunteers. The race was great and the goody bag was very original. Instead of a t-shirt participants received a back pack type bag, in the bag was a pair of race socks, cliff bar and even a race belt. The volunteers were very helpful and friendly and seemed to know what they were doing. The weather was awesome and it was set up really nice for the spectators as well.

I agree. It was short, but well run, and beautiful setting. The only problem was mother nature. The wind howled on the bike, and there wasn’t much to break it. I used by Hed 3’s for the first time. There was a nice breeze when we unloaded and the predicted wind was 8-10 mph, but by the time the bike started it was blowing about 20 mph with reported gusts to 40—YIKES. I was tilted way over on the side-wind areas. Sometimes I had to use the horns. I wished I had used my Shimano 540’s.
