Strava Fitness & Freshness

I have a couple of months worth of data with heart rate and can now see my fitness & freshness score.

I gather that the more I train the hight the fitness score will climb. It’s currently at 38.

My freshness score is currently -34 after finishing a stage race a couple of days ago.

So what’s this all mean? What would be a good freshness score going into a race? Is a positive score good or would that indicate too much rest?

Probably something similar to WKO+'s metrics of CTL for Fitness. My Strava fitness is close to my WKO CTL. I bet Golden Cheetah also has its version of those as well.
So if you go to TrainingPeaks and look up metrics like CTL, TSB, ATL you may find a better answer than I can give.

This may help: http://home.trainingpeaks.com/blog/article/what-is-the-performance-management-chart

Basically, in that article your CTL is similar to what strava calls “fitness” and TSB (i believe, but I’m not a premium strava user so i could be wrong) would be similar to your freshness.

 My first thought when I saw this post and then looking at my Strava account to see what this Fitness & Freshness was all about and not seeing any credit to you was, “Wait until Dr. Coggan sees this.”

I don’t look at it on Strava because I use WKO+.

Oh, it’s not just Strava, e.g.:

It’s rather sad, actually, how many people there out there who apparently lack any real imagination of their own…

Now if only WKO could steal Strava’s elegance and ease of use.

If only Strava actually turned a profit.
