My Fenix 5 does the same thing on my home treadmill, but for some reason was closer when I was at the Y on some newer models. I have no idea why that is, but whenever I do treadmill stuff I always focus on total time and HR or PE. Who knows what the actual mileage you ran is. Even the treadmill could be wrong.
I think the only way to get an accurate gauge of a treadmill, in terms of distance or speed, would be to get a foot pod.

or fork out another car payment for a Woodway (:
I get that it’s not always accurate and I need to calibrate but zero I think means something is broken
yeah maybe you’re right as long as you were on the correct setting, try it again and see. I haven’t had it say zero, but I have had it think I was doing a 20 min mile pace when I was closer to 7.
Turn it off, and then on again. Seriously. I laughed when I realized how stupid it is that we still have to do that, but the not reading pace has happened to me a few times (on the bike too) and the off and on again resets everything.

Garmin watches have never worked for me on the treadmill. I am not making this up but ever since they introduced then accelerometer based thing, every garmin watch has shown a slower pace as I increase the speed.
That’s hardly surprising as stride length usually changes as a result of pace. If the pace is related to a particular speed, when you increase the treadmill speed the Garmin likely sees no difference unless you increase stride rate. The treadmill might be going faster. Your stride length has probably increased. But your stride rate is still the same.
