STOLEN 06 QR Lucero In Ottawa (FOUND)

Unfortunately, Saturday morning (Aug.04) when I woke to grab my road bike to volunteer @ a triathlon in Ottawa, I discovered that both my bikes were stolen right under my nose in Manotick (South of Ottawa). One of my bike was a 2006 QR Lucero (I purchased from Dave Harju 2 IMMoo winner) I rode @ IMLP this year. I had the bike only 3 weeks!
Fortunately the thieves stopped @ the bikes.
If you leave in the Ottawa area and region, I would greatly appreciate if you try to keep an eye whenever you see a Lucero (which does not happen every day… I personnally know of 2 other Lucero in Ottawa area: Dev and KonaExpress) either while riding or in a shop (pawn shop, bike shop, etc…)

Here is a description of the bike with a link to a pic:

  • Bontrager Race X Lite 700x23 wheels
  • Tires: Michelin Ironman red (front), Michelin Krilion red (Rear)
  • Time RXS Carbon Pedals (Red)
  • Dura-Ace/Ultrega components
  • Specialized Comp computer
  • 175mm carbon FSA cranks
  • “Kuota” Red/Black saddle
  • IronMan Lake Placid USA # 598 sticker on stem

Please note there will be a reward if the bike is brought back in same condition and no “questions will be asked”

Thanks for your help in advance!!!

Cheers,
Fred.

Man. This is terrible news. At least QR’s aren’t as common in Canada as they are in the states. Your chances are a little bit better of recovering it. I’ll keep eyes pealed here in mtl.

Thanks!

Fred.

Bump for the Canadian folks that went camping during the long weekend!

Fred.

I’ll keep my eyes open.

That sucks!
I work in the 'Tick so I will keep my eyes open for it!

Hope everything works out

Ewan

Fred,

I’m really sorry to hear that, it sounded like that bike had treated you well in IMLP!

If anything turns up here in Hamilton I’ll let you know, I always seem to be looking on craigslist, etc for other bike stuff so you never know.

Keep an eye on ebay and even local pawn shops in case it shows up.

All the best,
Andrew

Oh man that sucks.

I’d keep an eye on Ebay for the next few weeks.

Best of luck

Just a sugestion, but you might want to contact the tri clubs to see if they could send out an e-mail alerting people about the bikes.

That sucks, sorry about your loss.

Thanks for the support guys!

Cheers,
Fred.

I was very fortunate to be able to retrieve my 06 QR Lucero this evening!
I would thank all the folks who not only provided kind support, but also some tips/info.

Fortunately, the criminals were not too smart and within a week posted the bike for sale on the internet (I received several emails from folks I did not even know notifying me about the listing) and the Police was able to arrest them.

Cheers,
Fred.

Great News
Got to love dumb criminals!

Ewan

Great news. Any word on the other bike?

just curious…did they put the bike on sale in eBay, craigslist, or ???

HAHA, great stuff. Of course they were not smart. Stealing a tri/time trial bike is asinine. Hardly anybody out of the general pop has one. Stealing one probably shows the thief doesn’t even realize what he’s stolen. It would be like stealing a neon green Lotus Elise. What are you going to do with that? A bit hard to bring to a pawn shop, isn’t it?

I bet the listing was funny. I wish you’d post the description they used

I am glad you were able to get your bike back. I hope they get the punishing they deserve. It would be interesting to see how they described the bike to sell it.

Good luck,

Sergio

I actually put listings (i.e. stolen bike) on Graiglist, Kijiji, theystolemybike.com, and trirudy.com.
They actually posted the listing on www.usedottawa.com (I live in Ottawa)

I actually received responses from folks from all the places I put a listing for my stolen bike.

Cheers,
Fred.

Any chance it was that ad posted in Used stuff in Ottawa for Sale ??
