Stinky Bike Shoes

Here’s something that you can use and not have to worry about washing your shoes each time you use them:

Gran’s Remedy

The stuff is UNBELIEVABLE !!!

I throw mine in the washing machine with detergent and a good dollop of bleach. This hasn’t hurt the cycling shoes or the midsoles of my running shoes (I throw them all in together). It does cause the uppers (the ultrasuede part) of the running shoes to wear slightly faster, but nothing comes out looking bleached or faded. Air dry indoors after. Also, I put an old tennis ball in the heel of the running shoes to support the heel counter, both during the washing and the air drying. I probably wash my cleats 3x/year and get about 5 years from a pair.

They smell because of bacteria growth. Put them in a bag and put them in the freezer overnight. They come out smelling neutral. I just did this with some running shoes and they don’t smell anymore. The bacteria die in the extreme cold.
