I have a road bike with an Ultegra triple up front. I would like to upgrade to a Dura Ace drivetrain. Will the triple STI shifters work with a double chainring crank? Thanks!
No.
Dammit.
To give a differing answer:
Yes. I have that on my road bike, since the Triple Ultegra shifters are $150. I just set the limit screws on the fd so that it won’t shift off. It can work, it just takes some doing. P
I run a double chainring with a triple sti shifter on one of my bikes. As the other poster said - just set your front derailleur limits so you don’t shift the chain off the rings and it will work. It’s not quite as slick as my bike with a proper double shifter to match the double ring, but, STI shifters are bloody pricey. You could get the DA drivetrain and use the shifters you have and then just keep an eye out for some affordable closeout/used STI shifters down the road.
Yes you can make it work BUT after a while I bought a new front deraileur.
