Steroid injection in knee, effective?

I have arthritis in my knee, not much cartilage left. It has been four years since first diagnosed. I had a cortisone injection back then, it didn’t hurt and I went right back to work afterwards. It worked quickly and really calmed everything down. It is hard to say how long it lasted as there were good days and bad days but never as bad as when I had the injection. Over the past four years I have had three rounds of supartz injections. I have had good success with them, it is one shot a week for three weeks.

I still run but not like previously. Can never run two days in a row. I also have a custom unloader brace which has been extremely helpful, I wear it for running and if I am going to be on my feet a lot. Another thing that has been helpful is acupuncture. A lot of it is trial and error and figuring out what works best for you. It is very disappointing to limit my running. My doctor is aware that I still run and is OK with it, she says I am doing less pounding on my knees than her overweight patients. I also run in Hokas. Good luck, I hope you find what works best for you.
