Stem stack height

I’m getting ready to cut the steerer on my new frame, and was wondering about the stack height of the stem. My old stems are 50mm, but the new stems I’ve seen all seem to be 40mm. I guess I can just leave one extra spacer on top of what I am happy with now and that will make sure I have enough room for any stem I want in the future. But I was just wondering if there is a standard?

40mm is pretty standard for clamp height these days. The shortest I’ve ever seen is 35mm on, I think, a Ritchey WCS. But there are also stems that are quite a bit taller in clamp height - the Profile H20 stem being the most notable that I can think of.

I threw a tape measure on a few stems we had in the store. For example 3T, Ritchey WCS 4 axis and Pro all measured at 40mm, the Profile Hammer has a lower stack at 35mm.
The old H20’s were really thick, probably because of the welded construction.

I’ve been doing some research and trying to dig up stem stack heights from various websites. So far it seems the stems that have a stack height of 36mm or less are as follows;
Profile hammer
Thompson elite  x2
Rotor 3sx
Can anyone confirm any of these or add to the list?
Anyone with a bicycle store that can check their inventory and see if other options exist?
I would really appreciate any help.

Here is the history of my pain.
I cut my 2012 SHIV headtube to the lowest position for use with the SHIV aerobar system and now want to switch to a Profile Volna. The problem is the stem height for SHIV aerobar system is only 30mm. When I cut it I didn’t even think to check to see if the aerobar system used a standard stem stack height.
