We are only one month out for the Whirlpool Steelhead Triathlon. If you have not signed up yet, you need to do so in the next 10 days. We will close the race at 1,200 participants. You can go to www.steelheadtriathlon.com to sign up and get additional information about the race.

Water temp. in Lake Michigan is in the high 60’s, low 70’s. Let’s hope it stays that way for the race! We had a number of athletes do the bike course this weekend and they found out that we have 1 mile of pavement missing on the new road that we had planned on using! Hopefully, they will have this mile of road re-paved by race day, but if not, we can always go back to last year’s course on Blue Star Hwy.

AquaBike - We have almost 50 signed up for the this new division - Swim and Bike! Should be a very competitive race.

Whirlpool, Pizza Hut and TYR will provide prizes for age-group winners! Hope to see you at the race. Z

Hey Tomziebart,

why the next ten days? Does registration close after that, or is the race getting close to filling? I am waiting to see if I have a job or not before entering (Layoffs coming soon!).

I just sent in my entry this weekend. I look forward to the race as I’ve never done it. Should be fun!

I’m still hoping to make it. I figure I need to give it a couple more days to see if I’ve got the finances for it.

Other than Hotel 8, does anyone know of any cheap, motels in the area? Preferably that don’t have a minimum two-night reservation?

I signed up ages ago–just after it opened–and I don’t see my name on the confimation sheet. Should I be concerned?

Gator - you signed up to early to be on the list - we downloaded the list as of Jan. 1 - so if you signed up before then, you are not on the list. Next time we update, I will make sure we download all of you that signed up before Jan. 1st. Thanks. Z
