Steelhead- Long bike? Against the current?

My bike computer (and other racers I spoke to) read 57.4 miles. Anybody confirm this?

Also it sure felt as though the swim was against the current, as opposed to with it.

FD,

My computer said 57.5, but some of the participants that I came with told me that their computers were spot on 56. So I don’t know what to make of it. As for the current, I didn’t feel like we were swimming against the current as much as a current that pulled us out away from the buoys. But that’s just me.

Eric

My bike computer had it at 57, but I heard that it was spot on 56 also.

We did swim against the current. The course was already set up before they realized that the current was going to other way. The current isn’t very strong though.

The course description on the website seems to list the bike as 55.2

I forgot to read the total miles off of my bike computer, but I did notice that although the computer had me at 0.1 mph faster than last year I was 4 minutes slower. I think that either this year was slightly long or last year was short.

I was a couple of minutes faster on the swim, and it seemed short to me. Maybe my swimming just improved? Nah.

Dave

Previous years bike courses were known to be short.

Several locals I know rode the bike course multiple times and came up with right at 56 ± .2. So if anything, it was within a quarter mile.

In regards to the current, if it was there, it wasn’t with us. I swam the day before (N to S) and I was flying. So I think there was no current or else me swim time was much faster than I imagined if it was against the current.
