Delta is killing me so I am (hopefully) going to send my bike to a shop in that area if possible. Does anyone know of a reputable bike shop in Benton Harbor where I could send it.
Thanks

Reputable anything in Benton Harbor is a joke.
Cycle and Fitness in St. Joe.
Thanks I am going to check it out
.
I’m semi-local. You can send it to my house. BTW, what size is it ![]()
Seriously, I’m about 45 minutes away and I’ll be racing Steelhead. It would probably be more of a hassle than flying with it, but if I can help some how, let me know.
Thom, thanks so much man I really appretiate it. i checked with that bike shop and they said for 125 they would unbox, assemble and tune it up as well as boking it up after. I think I am gonna go with them rather than the 400 total on Delta. Thanks so much though
I live in the area and I would have to say that Cycle and Fitness does not have a lot of experience in high end or tri bikes. They are very good people but their clientele is what it is. I would have my biked checked over by the official bike people at the race for peace of mind.
I went in there once and asked if they carried tubulars and valve extenders and they looked at me as if I had a third eye poking out of my head.
Agreed, however isn’t cycle and fitness the official bike checkers of steelhead?
Not sure where you are flying in to but there is a good bike shop in downtown Kalamazoo which is about 40 miles away. Alfred E. Bike, they are a Cervelo and Felt dealer.
I think they have someone come in with a big old trailer and tent. One of the biggies like InsideOut or TriSports. Awesome people who helped me out as like an idiot, I forgot my wetsuit.
Spot on Craig. Those guys are good. For those flying into Grand Rapids, you can’t beat Cross Country Cycle in Holland. Holland is 50ish north of SJ/BH.
Breakaway all the way for regional support. Portage/Kalamazoo, Muskegon, Grand Haven.
unfortunate they were not able to provide support for Steelhead this year. too many other races on the support calendar and the request came in way too late. there may be some as good but none better when it comes to expertise. and hands down no shop even comes close to supporting as many events in west Michigan as Breakaway.

That doesn’t necessarily mean a whole lot as I learned last year in at IM Switzerland
The official bike shop of the race last year had a booth in which they were doing repairs, adjustments and the like to bikes. The guys there broke two bikes right (and almost a third) right in front of me in the 15 minutes I was standing there. Broke the derailleur on one. Then cracked the aerobar pad holder right off another. The owner of that bike was standing there and looked at the mechanic, stunned. The mechanic just shrugged his shoulders and basically told him, “Sorry. We don’t have a replacement”. Then he moved on to the next guy.
Last I saw, the guy was off to hunt down a local bike shop that sold his brand of aerobar.
I immediately got the hell out of line. No way I was letting them touch my bike.
manufact of bike would help.
Sounds familiar. At IM Brazil I raced with no front DR due to the same issue. I can say that the single time I used the guys at Steelhead they did a very good job, but you are right. It comes down to the actual person wrenching.
