Jeez, theres a reason I didn’t do physical chemistry for my Ph.D. lol

Some enterprising soul should just make an adapter for cans of dust off. That’s a pretty big molecule there. Of course there’s tons of cfc free refrigerants available, any of which should work well.
My understanding from the chemists who write about this stuff is that it has to do with the solubility of the various gasses with the latex or butyl. The N2 bond length is around 1.09 angstroms vs the bond length of 1.159 angstroms (average); so the N2 is a smaller molecule; and the molecular weight is 28 vs. 44 for the N2 vs CO2 respectively…so it is not molecular mass that governs the difference.

So, has anyone tried this stuff? I’ve got a race coming up (Beach2Battleship) with bike check-in the night before and T1 distant from the swim start. It would be nice not to carry the pump around.

I haven’t tried it yet, but from the reports I’ve seen, it should work fine for that. Fill up the day before (even with latex tubes), and don’t worry about it on race day. You have to decide if that convenience is worth the price of the product. If I were you, I’d test it before your race, though.
I might give it a shot. After all, if the product does what they say, I can fill up now and be ready for my race on 10/20… It’ll be interesting to see how my latex tubes affect things.
(edit) Strange–getting a message on the online store about invalid security certificates. I don’t want to try it so badly that I’d put my credit card number in with that warning…

I don’t know that I’d trust it to hold pressure for a month, especially w/ latex tubes. I’d bet that 24-48 hours is no problem, though. YMMV.
Oh, I’m not banking on it, but it sure would be nice. I guess we’ll see, if they ever fix their security certificates. ![]()
