ST vs TNO Final Results....as I see it

First just the spreadsheet I’ll make my comments in a follow up post.

First feel free to look it over and let me know what I screwed up.

Second it actually came out closer than I thought.

For DNF’s I just used the finishing place assigned by the results…cut and pasted everything.

All averaged times at the bottom of the colums do not include DNF’s, obviously as they have no time…had to average nothing.

Not including DNF’s as LC suggested would have turned the tables, that number is listed second.

As far as the other statisctic and using points for place finish I’m not a big fan. IMO the goal is to determine the “fastest” forum. In the case of points for finishing place overall. Sure TNO took first but ST took 2nd thru 5th. As you can see from average times ST was fastest in all categories as far as average not including DNF’s. Applying points to certain postions, IMO, puts way too much weight on individuals and disreguards the forum as a whole.

I think the only open point here is whether or not to include DNF’s or not. IMO, yes, include them.

Honestly, ST has a lower average for the swim, bike, and run. I’m not sure I could be convinved that ST loses this.

Seems like it’d be like me (a Cardinal fan) trying to rationalize and explain that … “No, St. Louis really won the world series last year” (for non baseball fans … Boston won the series 4-0).

Well teh original rules stated that we woudl place the winner based on average overall placement INCLUDING the DNF’s.

Remove DNF’s form the picture and ST is a clear winner.

However part of being faster is pushing the limits and with pushing the limits comes DNF’s, so IMO they should be included.

So what you’re saying then is when the going gets tough, ST’ers quit. Lousy posers.

Or they push so hard they pass out…Or they quite…freakin’ posers.

So what you’re saying then is when the going gets tough, ST’ers quit. Lousy posers.

When the goin’ gets medium, the TNO’ers keep going.

I have no room to talk, I just couldn’t pass up the op to put my own spin on an old cliche.

What’s even odder is the fastest TNO’er (and fastest in the smackdown) fell off the list. Hey Matt, what happened to Matti from TNO?

Not sure was he on the original list? My web server crashed while uploading teh file and I lost the “Latest”. Tried to recreate accurately.

Like I said check it out and let me know what’s missing.

C’mon…are you sayin’ I’m slow?

I’m OLD…and a GIRL, for pete’s sake.

I’m still listed as 223, but I was in fact #233 (finished 692, rather than 1000-something).

Well on a day and a course were no male proffesional broke 9hrs and no female proffesional broke 10hrs…I think an ST’r or TNO’r going 10 might be suspect.

~Matt

I’ll fix you and Matti from TNO…anyone else?

~Matt

Yes, it is. Thanks, I feel better now…

Dang, can’t hardly wait to get to Eyedeehoe.

Hell I was near 10:30…or that’s about when I finished…10:30PM or so…

I think on another day, just taking away the wind these times would have been 20-30 minutes faster, even with the higher temps. The combo of wind and heat was not only decieving but pretty brutal.

It would be interesting to see if anyone did excepionally well on that day and how they did it. No one I talked to came close to what they have done or expected to do. This includes some pretty tough cookies including one female that had the fastest female ametuer bike split on the same course a couple years back…also in 90’ish degree temps.

I know alot of people are looking at these results going “Man these people suck”…unless you were out there it’s hard to explain how nasty it was.

I did Racine, 98 degree temps and a little wind, with a guy that was doing some riding around the course. He said that the conditions were considerably worse than Racine in his opinion, and he was only “Joy riding”

Suspect? Why?

paw (10:07)

You forgot about JoeRyan for Team TNO.

Jen

how about KDM!

Sorry team…I would have finished if I could have. Even had them put an “S” under my age (although they kinda butchered it).

How does one butcher an S? Did they misspell it?
