Crashed last week in a right hand turn doing just over 30mph. Got the typical road rash in typical spots and was able to jump back up and finish the race with no problems other than some skin that stung. The road rash is healing up well, as is the puncture I got on my hand, but I’m now wondering what’s going on with my neck/back. When I rotate my head horizontally to the left I get an unwelcome sensation that is just to the right of my spine at about the level of my rhomboids. Any ideas???
cowpoke, go to a GOOD careful chiro. if he can’t say anything intelligent, then go to GOOD doctor. unless you have 9 live, ya only got one good body.
Sorry about your troubles, but any landing you can walk (or ride) away from…
See your Chiropractor. Sounds like a displaced rib or possible spinal subluxation. But once you get to be my age, you’ll feel that way every day…
Good on ya for jumping back into the race!
Go to a real Doctor. Chiros will just “try stuff” to see what happens. While “trying stuff” they (a) can do damage or (b) do nothing but delay getting treatment and therefore delay recovery.
…or you could go out this weekend ago off on a left hand turn at about 30 MPH.
BTW, how did YOU ever get going that fast. Was this a downhill?
“See your Chiropractor. Sounds like a displaced rib or possible spinal subluxation.”
When you go to the Chiropractor and he says something like this, which he will, put your hand over you wallet and run from the office. This is nothing but jibberish. Please see a Sports Orthopedist who whos means of diagnosis and treatment is based on the scientific method and logic.
Everyboday has their experience to go by. My experience with Orthos is that they want to stick you with cortisone and then they want to cut out parts you might want later. Chiropractors are responsible for me still competing 38 years after the orthos said I was done.
To me, it’s just the opposite. The only difference is that many insurance carriers won’t cover the minimal fee of a Chiro, but they’ll pay millions to orthos who replace knees that Chiros could save.
Does anyone else see the irony in a guy named “Slick” offering said opinion on chiros? ;>)
FWIW, I’ve had good experience with football injuries and Chiros, but that’s about it. I don’t think they are quacks (at least those I know personally or have been to), but depending on your comfort level, you should possibly explore a Sports Orthopedist as an option first, see some Xrays and then make a decision. Since it’s only been a week, maybe some ice/heat and some time off would be best. Sometimes ‘stuff’ slips back into place just with the body healing. Good luck.
