I think I’ve read that it’s recommeded to retire a helmet every 3 years. That’s probably marketing at it’s best and would think a helmet is probably still good well after 3 years…
every time you give it a decent knock which for me is less than every three years in any event. Always assumed this was hype till I found two monster cracks in mine from a crash a month ago which barely scratched the glossy plastic top
Have also just discovered (and I don’t work for either company) that Madison - the UK importers of Giro helmets- will give you half the value of a cracked Giro helmet of the cost of a new one. Your LBS should have the details if this helps at all
