Saw on the ST front page he didn’t break the top 10, can’t find where he placed?
Heard from another Pro it was one of the toughest 70.3 he ever raced!

Rapp finished 17th and Kienle finished 10th. That field was stacked.
17th huh, yeah def a stacked field. Haven’t heard much from Jordan on podiums lately.

If you look at the results lots of guys in the top with ITU honed top end swim and foot speed. Many of the guys who are better at Ironman need a bit more time on the bikes for the ITU guys’ legs to soften up. Guys like Rapp don’t get dramatically slower on the 26.2 mile run. He’s proven multiple times, that he’s solid the longer it gets and from what i understand he is racing in Woodlands Texas in 2 weeks, so he’s probably coming off a bit of a build. I’d reserve any commentary until you see what he cranks out at Ironman…plus he has three very young kids on his hands and training and recovery are likely not the same as 2 years ago.
plus he has three very young kids on his hands
Jesus. And he still managed to finish 17th riding with kids on his hands? Impressive.
twins…that’s what happened. Nothing wrong with that, but I don’t know how he does it with three kids their age even if it is his full time job.
Sorry, that should have been in pink. I was going for a degree-of-difficulty joke about holding children while riding.
Jordan Rapp is an Ironman distance specialist. Don’t expect him to do really well in a deep 70.3 field.
I got it, and laughed at the visual. If it was in pink it wouldn’t have been funny.
One more thing…top 10 min were 5 min apart. If you are not an ITU swim capable guy, and lost 4-5 min in the swim, that’s 10 spots right there.

so basically, whoever is more proficient at neglecting their families does better than those who don’t?
Nope, not saying that at all. I have a three year old and can only imagine how much pull 3 has on him. It’s just a fact. It was ultimately affect training, sleep etc. There’s no way around it even with a full time staff on board. No knock at him. Not a huge fan of his but admire his ability to still do what he does with the cards he had.
I would say nothing happened to Jordan Rapp. It looks like he had a decent day if you look at his previous 70.3 results. He is much better at Ironman and STG had the most talented 70.3 athletes in the world racing. Kudos for Rapp for showing up.

I hear ya on that piece, but I guess no one told Hoffman, Potts that.
So rapp did the Ironman 70.3 U.S. Championships as a training race?

Hell the top three were 29 seconds apart, that’s quite the tight grouping.

Ok, thought he was more competitive at the 70.3 distance.
I remember he did Wildflower right before his smoking fast IMTX race a few years ago. I think he finished right around 4 hours and was in the middle of the pros. Maybe we’ll see the same at IMTX this year.
