St G garmin file

This is the first time I used a pwr meter during a race and I liked it…mostly because it tempered my efforts on the hills and allowed me to save something for the run (wow, hard run).

But I don’t know how to use this data going forward and I would like to know my Variability index for this race ~ I thought I was even tempered but I don’t know.

  • what lessons learned can I pull from this?

  • Any suggestions going fwd with this data?

Wow! You did 2:45 on 171 watts! How much do you weigh?

I weigh 180 and 210 got me 3:00.

164

but doesn’t the Garmin average out everything? even the time at the end of the file when I’m trying to figure out run mode? Yeah, I should have figured that out before hand.

Garmin Connect is not a data analysis tool. It is really just a summary document that doesn’t provide much in the way of any real value.

One thing I find odd is that there is no normalized power shown in your connect file. I am guessing this is because you are using a wrist watch that doesn’t capture that data. I would suggest you opt for a Garmin bike computer that does capture it.

I think you will find that normalized power is calculated, not captured.
