St Croix bike choice?

In keeping with the recent “what to do” threads…

Options for st croix:
18 lb P3 with 80 deg seat angle or 15 lb Six13 with 74 deg angle, both with aero (zipp) wheels.

I’m obviously leaning toward the six13…

Road bike - you spend a lot of time out of the aerobars in st. croix and STI shifting is much easier. Lots of steep ups and downs with turns at the bottom. Put a 27-tooth cog on too.

How do you climb on the P3?

I’d go with the P3 but make sure you have enough gears. 27 in the back for the beast. This hill is steep but not very long. Definitely painful if you aren’t prepared with the right gearing though.

and make sure you don’t crash…the streets there suck and one second of not paying attention could wipe you out. beautiful course.

Ride your P3 with a compact crank with a 50/34 compact crankset and a 11-23 cassette. Ride it in the slack position at about 75-76 degrees seat angle with a slightly shorter stem and with another spacer or two. It will give you better climbing, but a really good aero position too.
