St. Croix Accomodations Help

Hi folks,

I am looking into potentially heading down with a friend to do St. Croix in 2006. If our group grows, if could be as large at 5-6. Any recommendations on hotels, houses for rent or homestay options would be really appreciated. I’m thinking something like fly in on Tue/Wed, fly out on Monday, so 5/6 nites.

The best place to stay is the Buccaneer Resort - It is very nice and the run course goes through the resort. It is about 3 miles from the race site. Great Breakfast buffet with fresh fruit! Z

I agree the Buccaneer is where you want to stay!

Let me also clarify that I would like to try and stay somewhere that is not outrageously expensive. For example, could we get a house for 5-6 people and keep it under $75 per nite per person. Or for 2 people a hotel room for around $150 per nite ?

not that i know of … sorry … good luck with that

Be careful with the Buccaneer. It’s a great place to stay but passing your room twice while suffering through the run course is emotionally very painful.

I would recommend going the house route. Last time I went down there we rented a 3 bedroom house w/ private swimming pool and that was so much nicer than any hotel I have ever stayed in.

The villa can be seen at → http://www.paradisefoundstx.com/

We traveled with another couple so this was the perfect solution for us. There was also a large 3rd “bedroom” below the living room. That room was setup more like cabin sleeping than the other two rooms.

hi paul,

I stayed at a Hotel pretty close to the Ocean. Right by the swim start. Forgot its name but it cost me $65 per night. I had a really nice room with a living room downstairs and an upstairs bedroom. It was cheap and clean. Plus close to the race start (1min walk)

If you are on a budget, the best thing to do is to bring lots of food with you. That’s what will cost you the most over there.

Although the room came with a kitchen, it wasn’t equipped with any pans and other utensils. Something I will bring next time.

here it is, I found the link

good luck!

About 8 years ago I stayed at Colony Cove. Very nice condos, a quiet area less than 5 minutes from downtown Christiansted. I think we payed around 200 per night, but it was a 2 br/2ba condo that could EASILY have slept 6. The place was huge and very nice and clean, beautiful views to boot.

You might also want to try VRBO.com. A lot of people list their vacation homes and time-shares on the site. I’ve rented everything from ski condos in Colorado to beach homes on Eluthera, a very nice site and it might help you out.

Good luck…in finding accomodations as well as the race!
