I have a SRAM Force compact crank on my road bike, with the rest of the bike Rival. I just picked up a Cervelo tri bike with FSA carbon Team standard crank. The rest of the bike is Dura Ace.
I’d love to simply swap the two, so I’d have the compact crank on the tri bike and the standard crank on the road bike. Any compatability issues that you can forsee?
I’m not a huge wrench (so I’m sure I’ll be corrected if wrong), but none that I foresee. I believe Sram, FSA, and Shimano are compatible for cranksets. The only thing I have heard that is not compatible is shifters/derailluers (use Sram shifters with Sram der’s, or use Shimano shifters w/ Shimano der’s).
FWIW, I have a Sram red crankset w/ Dura Ace chain and der’s, and no problems whatsoever. I used to have an FSA crankset, and it also worked fine (shameless plug - the FSA is for sale in the classifieds).
