SRAM BB / Crank compatibility issue

I have a road bike originally setup with SRAM Rival 53/39 130mm chainrings

A year later I purchased a SRAM Rival 50/34 110mm BB/Crankset. It came all in one box. It was brand new but off ebay from a seller with a good rating

I swapped the cranks, leaving the BB on the bike.

Now today, I had the original BB that was still on the bike removed and swapped with the one that came with the 50/34 setup, keeping the 50/34 setup on the bike.

However the cranks do not fit the BB. There is a tiny bit of play, so the shop is going to put the old BB back on.

How is this possible? Are there differences between Rival/Force/Red etc BB’s? And could one have been packed with my crankset when I bought the 50/34 and just never noticed until installing that BB?

Note all the labour/installation was done by the same person at the same shop.

Not torquing the crank arm down enough? If the crank arm wasn’t greased well it may not have cranked down to remove the play. Sometimes it takes removing the arm greasing it again and then torquing it again. I have heard of shops having to do this several times to remove the play.

You sure you didn’t mix up BB30 and GXP cranks?

Thanks going to try that.

SRAM says all the BBs are the same.
