Just curious the thinking on getting a high end Spin Bike like the one from CycleOps (or others) for indoor use vs riding the real deal on the Trainer? Intuitively seems like you’d want to spend maximum amount of time on the real bike to get perfectly dialed in but wondering what others think on the subject.
I used a Schwinn spin bike for a couple of years, and well I enjoyed it, I ended up replacing it with a Computrainer. I primarily use the Ergometer mode of the Computrainer which allows me to conduct focused workouts as specified by my coach. The Schwinn was nice in that it was a VERY sturdy setup that felt better than the Computrainer when pedaling while standing. I would not have replaced the Schwinn with any trainer other than the Computrainer.
I personally enjoy my Spinner bike at home. I have an NXT from Spinning.com and love it much more than my trainer. It feels more stable, I can climb better, I can focus on anything and everything from breath control to visuals. It has enhanced my candence more than my trainer for some reason. I also don’t wear out my back wheel with the Spinner bike. I love it! Besides the fact I have 175 cranks on my road bike and 170 on the Spinner, which helps me with spinning more than mashing.
