The Consumer Product Safety Commision (CPSC)testing in the US is MUCH MORE stringent than the CE testing of helmets in Europe. That is why it took so long for the Giro Advantage to be available in the US. The Bell Meteor II is still not for sale in the US market, because it does not meet the higher standard of the CPSC in the US. Sure, you can bring it in from Europe, or buy it on ebay. But that don’t make it legal for USAT events. As for the GCT/Spencer Smith thing… I was there at the race. I asked questions. I talked to people. I listen very well. I have been a triathlete for over 20 years. I keep up with the rules and the rule changes and the processes and procedures of USAT. No secret identity or hidden agendas. I love the sport of triathlon and I do not want ANYTHING adverse to damage the sport or tarnish the image of what has given me so much! The USAT age group license and Elite license are different sizes and look different. The covert actions of Spencer Smith are attempts to undermine the rules and procedures set forth by our National Governing Body. Now he claims, like so many in society today, that he has no personal responsiblity and that he is the victim. Grow up!
