Just switched over from Look Keo’s. A couple of questions. First off, I like the feeling of my feet being able to move around a bit. The Keo’s with grey cleat felt like my shoes were bolted to the cleat. By having some play in the pedal, do you lose power?
I feels like my feet pop out of the pedal pretty easy. Is there a way to tighten that down some?
So far, with only 4 laps around my block, I like the freedom of being able to shift my feet around. I think they are going to be easier on my knees and achilles.
If you have Zeros, yes! tighten the little screws on the size of the cleat that limit the amount of float! That is the whole point behind the Zeros - you can have as much or as little as you want, also L and R independent!
I switched from Xs to 0s in June, mainly because the Xs are prone to plugging with mud. I bought them used, and the previous owner had the float set to as close to zero as you can go. I loosened them some, but they’re still much tighter than the Xs were. The 0s also are also more difficult to get into and out of than the Xs were, and I suspect this is partly because of the reduced float. So, if you feel like the 0s are releasing too easily, you might try reducing the float.
As to power, I have no idea. I’ve been riding Speedplays for 10 years and had Onzas and SPDs before that. Riders I have great respect for prefer Time and Look; I’ve never ridden either.
Ride them for a week and you will simply adapt to feeling of walking on ice. As for loss of power, they don’t seem to slow down Cancerella and the rest of Team CSC.
