Speedplay X/1 X/2 question

I believe the same cleat is used for both of these pedals…and the spindle length is the same…then why is the cornering clearance better on the X/1? (39º vs 37º)

Hi,

The spindle length on the X1 IS shorter, perhaps as to not overwork the rather skinny Ti spindle (with an absurdly low recommended rider wt max). It is no fun having one bike with X1’s and another w/ X2’s, as your q factor will vary noticably between the two set ups.

I know several people way under the absurdly low weight limit who have broken their X/1 axles in under one year.

Thanks. I was considering just that (X1’s for my tri bike, X2’s for my road bike) but will go another route if the spindle lengths are different. Their website is misleading saying “X/5’s spindle is 2 millimeters longer than other X Series spindles”.
