Speedmax CF SLX Disc Hawaii

Just ran across this on the Canyon site. Not listed under “Triathlon” rather it’s buried in the Road category. I’ve been waiting for the CF SLX 8 but, other than the colorway, this seems to be a decent value for $1,000 more. Zipp Wheelset and 12 speed vs. 11 speed seems to be the difference. I’ve always been on Shimano so not sure whether SRAM is a + or -?

See how it says “coming soon”? It’s not coming soon.

I suppose value is different for everyone, but I’d prefer to save $1,000 and stick with Di2. I really like eTap on my road bike but prefer Di2 for my tri bike. Although, I suppose it’s nice that you get a Quarq spider-based power meter with the SRAM version.

Ha, yes! Likely vaporware… Speedmax has been a “coming soon” moving target for months. I just thought it was odd that this popped up in their “Road” category. Could really care less about 12sp especially on TT bike but the Zipps are likely a substantial upgrade from the DT Swiss at least as far a perceived value. After reading a bit, I’m not a fan of potentially needing to carry a back-up battery for the E-Tap. We’ll see if either of these actually ship in the CONUS in 2022.

I asked the “chat” guy at Canyon and he said the limited Kona edition will be very limited. He thought it wiser to hope for the white $8000 model.
I think they are all on the slow boat from China.😂

Why would you need to carry an extra battery for SRAM?

The reviews I’ve read state that the wireless groupo derailleurs may not last for a single long ride…?

If that was the case no one would buy it. Etap batteries last about 60 hours of use. And if you have a 2x by setup you can just swap the front/rear should 1 ever go dead and get you home with plenty of juice.
