Speed Zoot (or other) for Florida 70.3

This will be my first non-wet suit race and i’m wondering whether it’s worth investing in a skin? I have the Zoot Ultrasuit. They have a wetzoot skin at a steep price - $225 - and it’s black which can’t be good for a later morning run in the 80 degree weather. Any one out there with a good recommendation on whether it’s worth racing in a skin, whether zoot makes a good product and whether the Ultrasuit is adequate as is.

I have a speedzoot that is from 2008 that I will sell you for much less. It is size M.

I would not wear black. You will be luckey if it is just 80. It will also be very humid—Disney is in the middle of a dry(most of the time)swamp. Orlando is also hotter than on either coast. If you are second away from an AG win you may consider it—otherwise go for comfort.

You can currently get the speedzoot on EBay at a BIN of about $90, iirc. This might make the decision a bit easier.

It doesn’t matter if the wetzoot skin is black. They are meant to be taken off after the swim!

This will be my first half and also my first non wetsuit legal race as well. I was planning on just swimming in a tri-suit. Does the speedsuit help that much?

Yes, color does not matter. It’s an early morning swim and the heat is not an issue.

Now that the “swimskins” are allowed, if you can afford it, you must use one on top of your racing gear. You will gain a little buoyancy and your clothes wont drag you. Definitely a gain of time.

There are quite a few options on the market, including our own “Torpedo”

Can you send me pix - what price?

You can see it on our website: www.kiwamitri.com
Price is $200.

Tri suits are really slow in the water, so its best to cover it with a speed suit of some sort, and if its black on a hot day thats OK because you take it off after the swim. Tim
