I was considering upgrading from alu to carbon TT aero bars.
Does anyone know how much the weight savings are?
Is the money better spend else where, like on pedals? Saw a 105 carbon pedal, have a 105 but not carbon pedal.
I’m on a Shiv Expert, getting ready to race a fairly flat IM.

Aero trumps weight. What carbon cockpit system are you considering switching to?
I was going to upgrade to the Specialized carbon bars and stem. I use a lot of the lenght of the set up, so was concerned about getting something different.
I’ve tested Specialized bars vs the old vision tech Al base bars in the wind tunnel. The Vision beat out the Specialized by a little.
It doesn’t seem to make sense to me to buy something that might be = to or slower than what you’ve got. It does make sense to put something on your bike that is faster.
Also don’t fall for the carbon is better than AL trick no matter what trick.
The upgrades you mentioned in your original post are money wasters. You’re trading cash for good looks but same functionality. If you’re going to trade cash at least buy stuff that has the potential to make you faster.
Got fitted, pretty agressive, but can hold it, and have put in massive volume for the last year.
Will ride 808 with a disk.
Just got a new Giro Selector helmet, it was super cheap, under 100.
Have fuelcell for all my stuff.
Use the Fuselage, and a BTA.
SO where would you spend the money. I’m not your typical triathlete, I’m perfectly content with not spending.
As a side note I’m a big, (well at least long) guy, 6’8" 200lbs.

Get a PI Octane trisuit and shave your legs …crush it.
There was an article in Triathlete Magazine several months ago that tested like 5 different popular aero bars (from cheap to expensive). I was shocked at how little the difference was between the set. Pretty much equal across the yaw range.
