Specialized tri tip - SL?

Hi, I was just curious as to what the primary differences between the Specialized TriTip and the Specialized TriTip SL are? Searching around on the specialized website hasn’t been too helpful. Does any body have any experience with them? I’m trying to see if there is a justification for the $40 price difference. Thanks!

look at their site again…it’s right there:

TriTip
Approximate weight: 40mm = 280g, 50mm = 290g (+/- 5%)

TriTip SL
*** Lightweight hollow titanium rails**
Approximate weight: 40mm = 240g, 50mm = 245g (+/- 5%)

EDIT: i have an SL and love it.

I just got a Tri Tip SL, much heavier and harder than my Fizik Arione Tri 2 (carbon rails), but I think the cutout part will help the numbness for me…we’ll see.

I also went from the Arione Tri2 to the Tri-Tip SL (40width) and been very happy with it. The cut-out definitely feels like it’s working as advertised. Harder on the sit bones, but less pressure on the soft parts.

Add one more for switching from the Arione Tri 2. I have tried many, Arione Tri and Tri 2. ISM Adamo, Selle San Marco Azotto Tri Gel, E3 Form, Vision Tech, Selle Italia SLR Tri, Selle Italia Flite w/QR Flitie, the list goes on. Anyway for me the Tri Tip Sl is the most comfortable in the aero bars that I have yet tried. The ISM was great in the tuck but forget sitting up!

That is exactly why I did it and it solved it for me. I am a nose rider.

so structurally, the original and the SL versions are the same…just different rail material and weight? do the titanium rails have any comfort advantages over the chromoly rails?

did any of you happen to have your sit bones measured? mine are 130mm, which is at the top end of the 140mm saddle and the bottom end…just trying to determine which will suit better. also, when riding it, do you have the tilt down, up, level?

Don’t know tech specs that you are asking about. I went with 50mm SL as that is what lbs recommended based on measurement. I took SL as it is lighter.
I am a nose rider so my sit bones have no issues with this saddle.
