Specialized transition sizes

I just gave the Specialized S-works transition in my LBS a spin.

I’ve never been professionally measured, but I’m 6’, 33" inseam, negative 1 ape index.

The size 56 felt really small. - Keeping in mind Specialized call that bike a “large” did they set it up wrong or would I need a bigger bike.

Beautiful machine, but boy, SRAM red is CLUNKY.

Depends how you like to ride… If you ride slack the 56 would work (I think), but then again you said it felt small. I am 5’11 and ride the XL steep with a 100 stem.

given that my current bike is a road bike with a profile design base bar, aero bars and end shifters, I’m probably used to riding slack. However, I am quite comfortable riding long distances in aero and would reckon on being of “average” flexibility, so going steeper could be a good thing.

I need to get measured up.

I need to get measured up.
Yes, you do. Go to your shop and explain that you’re interested in buying a Transition, and they’ll start jumping through hoops to help you. All that can really be said over the internet is that yes, the transition has weird sizing and tends to run small using standard fits.

Xl Tranny is a similar size to 56 P3. Ignore the nominal size - use the Stack & Reach charts (link in top bar) to compare bike sizes. And read all the stuff that Dan has written about the correct approach to bike buying.
