My Transition came with two 5mm and one 10mm spacer. I was playing with lowering the front end, but if I take out more than 5mm spacer, the front brake cable becomes pinched/kinked between the base bar and the “clip” that hangs down in front of the head tube to hold the cable housing.
It seems to me that a longer clip would solve the problem. Is such a thing readily available? Would there be any functional issues to deal with? Any other solutions to this problem? (For what it’s worth, I don’t think removing the front brake is a viable solution.)
We dropped my bars at my last fitting and ran into this problem. The guys at Wheelie Fun came up with the solution to run a thin metal tube and bent it quick just above the thing that holds the brake cable.
Oh screw it. Give me a few minutes and I’ll take a picture of it.
My adjustable stem wedge is turned to the -16 degree setting. I’ll have to play around with it this week and see how much of difference that makes both in bar height and leaving room for the brake cable. Thanks for the help.
Searching for a little lower cables stop is a good alterantive as may be the use of some Nokon housing. The wider the bend the better. I wonder if you could simply install a traditional sidepull caliper in lieu of the specific brake that comes with the frame? If you could the housing would be longer and with a wider radius. That may be a viable option if it is possible.
If you look at CycloCross Bikes (with cantilever brakes) you’ll see a similar set-up. I don’t recall what they are called but there are metal tubes that you can thread the cable through that allow you to make those tight corners to that “clip” you’re talking about without having to bend your housing as much. That might be a possible solution.
Another option might be using Nokon cables as ithey you to make really tight corners.
Just get the correct freaking part to lower the cable stop! Specialized makes a part to do this. You are going to have all the Cervelo freaks hyperventilating!

Anybody have an extra one of these extra long hangers that Specialized makes? I have called literally a dozen dealers and none understand what I am talking about and have not had success ordering one. Or, anybody know a LBS who may have one in stock? Thanks.
Yes, multiple times. They keep saying I need to go through a dealer, but I’m telling them that isn’t working… and they still won’t send it out. Who did you call? I called the number on the Spec website.
