Anyone else ever try these? I’ve liked specialized shoes for a while (the body geometry design and inserts were actually designed by a guy I know and worked with Dr. Andy Pruitt). My old pair were getting a little rough (about 4 years old and likely 15K miles). My other shoes are Shimano TR-01 tri shoes - they are decent.
Well, their new top of the line is silver, with silver carbon fiber bottom and the very cool BOA lacing system (I think pioneered by Pearl Izumi - basically a thumbwheel with a high tensile string that closes the whole top down snug). Well, did the first ride with them today (only about 35 miles), but WOW! If you like room in the toes but the shoe very tight otherwise (and easy adjustment on the fly) these are great. Really felt great standing/climbing with pulling up hard. I was duly impressed. I’ve used Carnacs in the past with some success as well. I’ve never fit well in Sidi and I had only a brief experience with DMTs.
If anyone is in the market, I would highly recommend you check these out. They also just came out with a new tri shoe that looks great as well (VERY open and airy with carbon sole). They aren’t too $$ either. My local shop had 'em at $250 (but our local club gets a discount). I’m sure they could be found online for less.
