Here is my new frame. It is a 66cm (c-t).
It is a Marinoni built custom, I believe in about 1995. My DA/Ultegra Allez will remain as my race bike. This will be for everything else. But, how should i spec this out? I am inclined toward Campagnolo - and Centaur is the popular choice so far. WHat do you think? How about all the rest also (wheels, quill stem and bars, headset (1" threaded), post, etc)?
nice frame, but are you 7 ft. tall? that is one seriously large frame…
Almost. Can I change your lightbulbs?
wow.
well, i would spec it to have as much compatibility with your other bike(s) as possible. that way you could swap out a wheel, a component, or whatnot in a pinch. that way you could race instead of crying softly when you buckle up a race wheel or whatever…
Campy all the way for that bike! I would see if I could find a nice gruppo on ebay, especially those old style campy delta braks. But nothing carbon.
Can’t say enough about my Campy Eurus wheels - and they’d look hot on this rig, for sure. If you don’t want to srping for them, Proton’s would be pretty sweet as well. Definitely go all Campy though, to max-out the style points!!
There’s a 1" Cinelli Ti stem on e-bay, and a pair of Stella Azzurra bars as well.
If you’re really into style over function go with a Chorus seatpost, or just stick with a good-old Thompson.
hey, i just remembered that i have a sweet, almost perfect conditon, trivially used Profile quill stem in silver in either 12 or 13 center/center with an SRP ti stem bolt to replace the steel one. if interested, send me a pm.
Almost. Can I change your lightbulbs?
No, but seems to me like you are probably going to need consider having som 190-200mm custom crank arms made for that thing.
"DON’T GO BLACK! a warning for you… "
That’s right, once you go black you never go back!!
Sorry I could not resist
Wow, pretty cool looking cages. Are you using them?? They will look nice on my Steelman SR…
Jim
Just put Centaur on my TT bike-it rocks. The grey is particularly nice.
I say not really bike porn because it is still merely a frame. What I am thrilled about is that I got a frame that is (hopefully) going to fit me right. If not right on the money, it is going to be really close to ideal based on a recent fitting. And I did not have to drop $2000 for a custom.
Thanks for the info, Larry, and everyone.
I will go silver (though I also had a brief vision of black rims and spokes and post and stem, etc.). Naaah!
Yeah, go campy and go silver. Centaur would be a great grouppo on this ride - all the way down to the seatpost and the Campy binder bolt. As for wheels, Centaur hubs mated to silver Open Pro’s - 32 holes all the way. Very classy.
Oh, don’t forget the white bar tape - would look sweet on this ride.
