I was looking for some races to race in Southwest Michigan during the upcoming season. I am about 30 minutes south of Kalamazoo and was looking for some races that would be under an hour travel time. In addition to Steelhead, I found these two:
Eagle Point (Cassopolis) 5/26 (anybody ever done this one?)
Three Rivers August ??
Any other recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

no one has…this is the inaugural year. presented by the same outfit that offered inaugural year of the “Get It Goin’ On” event in Elkhart, IN last year. it is on my calendar. nice venue and good warm up to Rockman.
don’t forget Shermanator in Augusta, just a bit north and east of Kalamazoo. hot sprint.
also close by in Indiana you have Warsaw and LaPorte. even without Phil, Warsaw is a must do event in the area.
It might be a little over an hour. But it’s easy to get to from your area. Pathways Pokagon State Park Triathlon and Duathlon (Angola, IN) on May 17th. It is early so wetsuit is strongly recommended. Great reviews for the first race last year.
Niles
Three rivers
Johan
Great Lakes
Waterloo (a little further)
I’ve done all but three rivers. All are nice home town type races with some pretty good competitors.
I did Three Rivers in '06. Even though it rained, it was a fun race, well organized, and a great course. Little travelled country roads with rolling hills on the bike and run.
