I have an idea of places to go…
The Ocean, but high waves make it more difficult than I am ready for. Maybe some location where there are never any waves? Key Biscayne, off the Causeway, too much grass. I waded out about 200 yards and it was grass all the way to the surface which is impossible to swim in. Is there some place I dont know about?
Just wondering if there are any South Floridians that might know where the best open water training would be for a major swimmer wannabe.
Shouldn’t be tall grass if you’re in the usual spot, which is Hobie Beach. Go out to the buoy line, then parallel to shore until you hit the SeaQarium wall. This is the place:
This is where I will go this weekend. I think this is across the street from where the Miami International Triathlon is going to be so very race specific.
No problem. Should be plenty of people out there swimming on the weekend. You’re right, the MIT swim is just on the other side, in the U-shaped inlet. If anything, it will be even calmer for the MIT swim. Good luck
I liked swimming at Ft. Myers Beach / Estero Island. This was the location of OW Nationals the past few years. The water is warm and the waves are usually pretty small. If you go early in the morning, it’s almost always flat.
