Sophisticated eBay scam

This one takes the cake. You get an email saying you’ve been suspended because someone has used your account to make fraudulent bids. Then you have to follow a link to a website where you are required to fill in and verify every conceivable bit of sensitive info. Everything is made using eBay’s own graphics and the some of links even point to real eBay sites.

If anyone is way better at computers than I - here’s the bastards IP and the site they built to hose everybody.

Anybody a cop?

What sucks is how many average folks are going to give away there info.

despite the fact that ALL services on the internet that use passwords ALWAYS tell you when you first register that they will NEVER ask for your password…

Not many users are aware of this, but neither Ebay or Paypal will have live links in any emails they send you
.

Here is who owns it:

What do you mean Francois - ebay asks me to log in (with my password) all the time…

they won’t do it in an email
.

Probably the quickest indication that any site that is asking for secure information is a scam is when none of the links for inputing secure data begins with https:// indicating that the connection is being made through SSL (secured sockets layer) as the internet protocol.

I just received an email telling me that my credit card that is on file at ebay is expired so I need to log on with my account info and new credit card info… I started to do it without even thinking but then realized that I never did have a credit card on file with them! You definitely have to be careful!!
