Heard on the radio today the National Insurance Institute or whatever they are called did a study and found that small, lightweight cars are the least safe in an accident. The injury rate was something like double the other categories.
I could have been paid considerably less than what they dished out to tell them that.
Who would have thought that if a honda civic designed to nicely bend in order to absorb shock got hit by a Ford 350 heavy duty, you’d better be in the truck…?
wow…
Mid engine was only sold in the US - unfortunately not in Canada. I had one when I lived in Hamilton - 260K miles on it whe I sold it and loved it. Great engine, great handling in snow, but did require onstnat tinkering.
You could also flex the panles with your baby finger - I am really glad I never got hit when I was in it.
I think it’s one of those vicious cycle things.
if all the cars were smaller, than the smaller ones would be safer than they are now.
not that that helps if you plow into a telephone pole, of course. but when i had my civic, it felt a lot safer in 1995 when I got it than it did in 03, just because there were fewer other civics & more - well, you know.
