Something to look forward to tonight

MSNBC reports,

"In Indiana’s Marion County, about 175 of 914 precincts turned to paper because poll workers didn’t know how to run the machines, said Marion County Clerk Doris Ann Sadler. She said it could take most of the day to fix all of the machine-related issues.

Election officials in Delaware County, Ind., planned to seek a court order to extend voting after an apparent computer error prevented voters from casting ballots in 75 precincts there. Delaware County Clerk Karen Wenger said the cards that activate the machines were programmed incorrectly."

So I live in Marion county…

Why is it so damn hard for people to get these machines to work properly? Don’t they dust them off a few days beforehand to get everything up and running?

I believe America rushed into electronic voting. I think it is a horrible idea. I was watching the nice old ladies becoming totally confused by the machines this morning when I went to vote. There are few things that go together worse than old people and computers. I also felt that if there were an electricity outage I wouldnt be able to vote as I had limited time.

I voted this morning. What a pain in the ass. I got there 5 minutes before the polls opened at 6:00 am. There was about 20 people ahead of me and by the time the polls opened there was 40-50 people behind me.

They had 1 person checking identification and giving out voting numbers. After that line, you had to get in line to sign the voter roll. After that, they let you chose to vote electronically or by paper (scan tron type). Everyone was chosing paper since there was only 3 electronic machines and the line for those was very long.

I watch one old lady stare at the screen, for the electronic machine, the entire time I was in line and she never did anyting, WTF. By the time I got my paper ballot, there was people all over the gym, sitting on the floor, standing against the walls and some in the 5 booths they provided. It was crazy.

The head voter commission Nazi lady said that everyone should come back in the afternoon because there would be no line and some dude yells, ‘‘We all have jobs lady.’’ That shut her dumb ass up.

When I left, there was a line out the door, down the hallway and around the corner. I would say turn out was good and the voting commission was completely unprepared.
