Something rattling around in my 1080

So, I was getting things ready on the TT bike for an upcoming duathlon when I noticed something rattling around in my Zipp 1080 front. Nothing has fallen into the wheel so I can only imagine that it is some sort of carbon flake that’s in there. I have no way to know and, likewise, no way to get it out. Have any other 1080 owners noticed something in their wheel? I only notice it when I rotate the wheel slowly and I certainly don’t feel anything through the wheel wall so whatever it is doesn’t have much mass. It’s big enough to make a noticeable “rolling around” sound but that’s about it.

Thanks in advance.

Do you use a valve extender if it’s a tubular, or is it a clincher? If the answer is yes, then you can use a vacuum cleaner at the valve opening and suck it out. Rattle it down to the bottom below the hole and suck.

I had that problem, Zipp said it was just a piece of carbon/epoxy or something.

Eventually it found a place where it was happy, settled down and stopped rattling.

Either way (vacuum or patience) it’s no big deal.

Also it coudl be a piece of the inner liner they use when molding the wheel. They do their best to remove all of the plastic but sometimes a little flake is left. Not a big deal.
