If you want someone to unconsciously overlook the most critical point of your statements, simply put it in the fine print.
No that would be too easy. Seems to me this guy has killed a lot of people.
Officer Peters, who fired the fatal shot, has been involved in seven shootings over the past decade. Six of those have been fatal, and all have been ruled justified.
As they said they are justified, but at a certain point whether justified or not, I would think a guy has to go. Football players are forced into retirment after a certain number of concussions.
He has racked up more bodies than many war veterans who have seen real combat. He shouldn’t be in the streets anymore. Assign him to a desk. Because whether justified or not, I don’t think this guy would have been shot if Officer Peters were not on the scene that night.
Officer Peters Don’t Care
Officer Peters is a Badass
the fine print thing looks like an HTML mistake, from looking at the source. so maybe not intentional =)
Looks like he’s being “Scrutinized” HERE

That is what I was saying. I mean I’ve only known a couple of cops involved in a firefight or shooting. And it such an ordeal for them mentally and/or administratively they would go out of their way to avoid it again. So to have 7 shootings under your belt, almost sounds like a record to me. However, Matt’s additional article mentions a scoped rifle. Every SWAT team has a sharp shooter, but I don’t think that was the case here. I could see them having higher numbers. An FBI agent I knew served in a sharp shooter capacity and I know he killed a few. Only told me of two instances, but I’m sure there were more.
But they were ruled as justified and we know that police officers never cover for one another.

The “fine print” thing was in jest … though I do find it strange that the article ends on what is probably the most important takeaway from the entire story. Seven justified shootings, six of which happen to be fatal?! Either this guy is trigger happy and knows how to grease wheels, or he is extremely unfortunate in his encounters. The fact that he even had the opportunity to answer a call and shoot this latest guy is amazing.
You think the comment can piss you off, check out policeone.com. This story hasn’t made it there yet, but it is scary the way some cops think. There will be a lot of guys defending or even commending this guy.

Interesting that the article was written by a Portland, OR news source which conveniently left out a few facts about the officer who fired the shot. Namely, that 4 of his fatal shots came as a SWAT officer which as reported on the link below “greatly increasing his odds of being in lethal force situations”. Here is a link to an AZ (albeit Fox news which was the station I used to watch when I lived in Phoenix) news source: http://www.myfoxphoenix.com/dpp/news/investigative/official-defends-scottsdale-officers-history-2-16-2012.
I am not defending the guy’s actions, just saying that the original article was disingenuine in it’s reporting since it did not put the final statement into proper context. Phoenix can certainly be a rough place for police officers, that is for sure.
So at least one officer thought they saw a gun, was that Officer Peters by chance? 7 shootings, 6 fatal, holding a little kid, unarmed. This may have been just a tragic mistake, but that is just too big of a screwup to allow him out there any longer.
I feel for cops. If they think someone is going to shoot they don’t have the luxury of waiting to see what might happen. But when something like this happens it is beyond time to take action to take them out of situations where they can shoot someone else.
Sounds like his aim in impeccable so far.

Well only 6 of his 7 shootings were fatal.
