Yup you got stuck holding the crap end of the stick, happens to everyone now and then. Maybe not your fault maybe you could have done something a little different. But as far as your parents are concerned it’s your fault because crap rolls down hill and for now you are at the bottom of that hill. Get used to it, because in some respects you’ll always be at the bottom of the hill and you’re going to get a lot of more crap coming your way regardless of it’s your fault or not. You can choose to look for sympathy or make fertilizer up to you.

yes. and if there was a key on one of the lugs, I would have made sure that I had the key before jacking up the car.
If he jacked up the car with passengers in it or had it on a jack when people entered the car then that’s another no-no.
I didn’t also, If the E-brake is on does it matter when you take the lugs off? Why?

You actually want to brake (loosen) the lug nuts before you jack the car, but not remove them. Then with the car jacked up, you can remove the lugs and wheel. You loosen them first because it’s easier to do when the wheel is held in place by the ground. You wait to take them all the way off so the wheel doesn’t pop/fall off as pressure is taken off it while you’re jacking the car up.
the car will still move some with the e-brake one, that movement can cause the car to slip off the jak. I’ve always found it best to jack the car up slightly. Just as the jack is lifting up the car but not past the travel of the suspension. So some weight on the jack, but most of the weight on the wheel. Loosen the lugs a little, 1/2 ~ 1 turn, just to break the tension. Then jack the car all the way up and proceed to take the lugs all the way off.
Do the opposite when putting on a tire. Put the lugs on with the jack up but then lower the car to where most of the weight is on the tire and give the lugs the final tightening.

Being the king of pissing people off I have an idea. As a parent I sometimes got on too my kids not because of one act but the total of many small things. Maybe there is a bigger issue. Do a little digging.

You should quit the job as a auto mechanic and give the reason for your leave as “unprofessional working conditions”.
Always know how to fix things but never let others know of your ability to take care of things, otherwise you get those kind of help-calls. Tell your dad he should re-evaluate the compassion he has, move out and cut the umbilical cord with your parents. Tell them you don’t need that shit and life will be much better for you.
